Great episode.

I had heard of Earth X being Marvel's answer to Kingdom Come a while back, so I got it in trade, which sounds like a smart move based on what you were saying about the confusion with the issues.

I also got the sequel trades of Universe X and Paradise X.

I did love the story, but as stated, it does pale in many ways, in comparison to Kingdom Come. You guys hit the nail on the head with it. It's very dense. There is SO much in there that it can be overwhelming, but if you soldier on through it you get a lot out of it. I would not recommend it for a light reader of comics. It could actually scare them away. Ha.

But I agree that anyone who is heavily into comics (especially Marvel), it really is almost required reading. As Noob said, it's a rite of passage for a Marvel fan.

I enjoyed the story and all that was in it and I enjoyed you guys covering it. I didn't think it would be possible to cover something thise heavy in one episode, but you guys did great with it. I may just have to go back and re-read it since it has been years since I read it.

Chuck did read Kingdom Come for the first time just a few weeks ago. I don't know if I could get him to read Earth X. He doesn't like anything with too many words in it. LOL

I will give him the trade if he is interested in checking it out. I think the art might turn him off from it also. I liked the art, but I don't think it's a style he would like. He's very traditional comic art style only (ex. - Jim Lee, Ivan Reis, Robert Atkins, Doug Mahnke, etc.). As soo as you give him something a bit outside that more mainstream style it's very hit or miss (ex. - he's not a big fan of Antonio Fuso's art on the Cobra comic). So we'll see.

It definitely take a serious effort to read through Earth X. I don't mean that in a bad way. It's a great story, but you do have to be committed to reading all of it in order to get the payoff in the end.

Hi Ryan. Great to see you here. I loved the "X" series but I realize that someone who isnt a Marvel geek might have a problem appreciating all of the interesting and smart things they did to hammer obscure bits of history into the Marvel universe. As for KC all anyone has to do is listen to the podcast we did on it to see how much I truly loved this book.

My co-host, Chuck, claims to be a Marvel geek, but he's not big on taking a lot of time to actually read, so since it's a dense read (in a good way as far as I'm concerned), I think he will avoid it like the plague.
